Balochistan plans tight security for Eid

As many as 177 congregations of Eid prayers would be held across the city

QUETTA: Regional Police Officer Balochistan Abdul Razzaq Cheema has said stringent security measures have been adopted on the eve of Chaand Raat and Namaz-e-Eid on the special directives of Inspector General Police Balochistan Ahsan Mehboob.

He said as many as 177 congregations of Eid prayers would be held across city and security measures have been beefed up on 10 most sensitive areas.

He said that under the security plan, 5,000 police personnel would be deployed on the various sites including personnel of special branch and rapid response group and anti-terrorist force.

He said personnel of police, RRI, ATF, BC, FC would be deployed at Eid congregation sites, adding unregistered vehicles and tainted glasses would be checked thoroughly.

He said walk-through gates would be used for people entering the congregations along with searching, sweeping and checking in the city. He said programmes of entertainment would not be allowed without permission.
