Federal government has approved 12 projects for Gilgit-Baltistan in various areas

Work on 100MW power project of Karakorm University and 80MW project at Phandar will be started soon, said Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Hafeezur Rehman in a statement.

He said a technical team of Chinese engineers has arrived in Gilgit to complete feasibility reports of projects. Rehman said land has also been acquired for the special economic zone being set up under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, Radio Pakistan reported.

According to official sources, federal government has approved 12 projects for Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) in various areas, including energy, communication and health. Official sources said that Rs98 billion will be spent on these projects.

The power projects include 34.5MW Harpo-Skardu, 26MW Sagar Thang Skardu, 20MW Hanzal, 16MW Naltar, 5MW Hasan Abad, and 4 W Thack Chilas. Besides, the funds will be used to build a 50-bed bed cardiac hospital in Gilgit.APP
