Talking to Express Tribune, Multan Deputy Commissioner Nadir Chatha said the step was taken to avoid any untoward incident and to save human lives. “On the eve of Eid, people visit parks to enjoy and celebrate the occasion. Many swings in different parks have been rusted and dilapidated. That is why they are dangerous. Keeping in view the safety of children, all kinds of swings and slides will be banned on all three days of Eid,” the DC said.
“The district government does not want to spoil the happiness of Eid, neither we have any intention to snatch the opportunities for entertainment from the masses, but the safety of human lives is the first priority of the state,” the deputy commissioner remarked.
He directed the district officials and contractors of all parks to completely shut the dangerous and old swings Last year in July, on the occasion of Eid, more than 120 children were injured when a swing collapsed in a park in Sahiwal.
