Children’s hospital gets 600 more beds
The new block will provide all surgical and treatment facilities from cardiac surgery to cancer treatment

Equipped with the state-of-the-art medical facilities, the newly built extension block of children’s hospital, which consists of 600 beds and 16 operation theaters, was inaugurated on Friday.
Latest biomedical equipment and other best health facilities have been provided in this state-of-the-art hospital. Children Hospital Dean Prof Masood Sadiq and Medical Director Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore claimed that with the addition of 600 beds and 16 operation theaters, the total bed strength of the hospital has been reached to 1,050 and the hospital has become the largest children hospital in the world where all the surgical and treatment facilities from cardiac surgery to cancer treatment were available under one roof. “The total cost occurred on the extension block is about Rs2.5 billion,” he said.
Key hospital to get 400 nurses
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq along with Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah visited the newly constructed extension block of the children’s hospital the other day and reviewed the arrangements for inaugural ceremony.
On this occasion, Salman said the idea of this hospital was conceived during the Muslim League government and construction on the project was started in the government of Muslim League in 1988 and today the project has been completed again in the PML-N government according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Institute of Child Health dean informed the secretary health that the children were coming to this hospital from across the country and this hospital was providing best treatment facilities to them free of charge without any discrimination.
Prof Masood Sadiq revealed that bone marrow transplantation would also start from August 2017.
