Khanewal police nab five for abusing minor boy

Suspects were threatening the family that they would upload the video and nude images of the child on the internet.

MULTAN: City police claimed to have arrested five people, who sexually assaulted a five-year-old child in Mian Channu, a sub district of Khanewal District on Friday.

A City police station official told The Express Tribune that Muhammad Wakeel Khan, resident of Mohallah Shams Pura, had registered a case against five people at City police station and accused them of sexually abusing his grandson Muhammad Sami, 5, on June 4, 2017.

In his statement, Muhammad Wakeel told the police that the suspect Abdur Rahman asked his grandson to go with him on a picnic. “Later, he took him to a house located in Nand Singh area where five people abused him sexually and recorded the incident in a video,” he added.

Wakeel maintained the suspects were threatening the family that they would upload the video and nude images of the child on the internet. He stated the suspects were blackmailing them and were demanding money from them.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, Muhammad Wakeel said, “The incident has greatly affected my grandson both psychologically and physically.” He added, “The child neither plays nor does he behave in a normal manner and always feels scared.”

Meanwhile, when contacted, a police official requesting anonymity, said the investigation of the matter was underway. “Five culprits identified as Abdur Rahman, Tariq Mahmood, Ali Ansari, Khalid Ghaffari and Tauseef Ahmad have been arrested,” he said.  The official revealed, “This gang has a large network and they were involved in several cases of such nature.” He said the police were conducting raids to arrest other members of the group.

Earlier, two special children were sexually assaulted in separate incidents in Bahawalpur.

A 15-year-old student of special education centre located at village 10/BC was sexually assaulted by the centre’s bus conductor. The suspect was arrested following the incident.

In the second case, an 11-year-old mentally challenged boy of Satellite Town was assaulted in a showroom near Himyatian Chowk when he was on his way to school. Later, the police arrested the suspect and registered a case against him.
