MULTAN: A three-day festival titled “Multan – The Mango Capital” will commence from July 8 here with the aim of promoting the king of fruits. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) in collaboration with the district government is organising the festival. Envoys of several countries, agricultural researchers, mango growers and agricultural companies are expected to participate. The festival will also be open to general public with special arrangements for families. The varsity has been holding the mango festival for the past couple of years. Seminars on issues related to the fruit such as diseases and pesticides will also be held along with the setting up of stalls by companies of the agro-industry. MNSUA Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Ali hailed mangoes of Multan for their taste and quality while stressing the need for enhancing shelf life of the produce in order to increase the export capacity.
