The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Women’s Wing has named a 14-member squad for the Quadrangular Series that starts from April 21 in Sri Lanka.
The squad was named on the eve of the 12-day camp that commenced in Lahore yesterday. The series also features Ireland and Netherlands besides the hosts.
Team changes
Sana Mir was retained as captain while Javeria Wadood was named her deputy. Pace bowler Sania Khan will miss the Sri Lanka tour due to a shoulder injury and was replaced by fast-bowler Qanita Jalil while spinner Sadia Yousaf takes the place of Mariam Hasan in the squad.
“I’ll be banking on the team’s enthusiasm and spirit,” team coach Mansoor Rana told The Express Tribune. “We’ve only made two changes while the rest of the team is the same.
“The players are confident after winning the 2010 Asian Games so we are looking forward to the series.
“The other advantage is that Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Ireland will also be competing in the 2013 World Cup qualifiers in November so we’ll get to see what we’re up against as our aim is to play the World Cup in India.”
Rana added that he will try to balance the team and said that Jalil and Yousaf’s addition in the team is a welcome change.
