Pakistan's national anthem to be rearranged

Marriyum Aurangzeb directs world class orchestration truly representing country’s cultural diversity

ISLAMABAD: The government has tasked the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) to rearrange the national anthem’s musical rendition – originally composed by Ahmed G. Chagla – using a world class orchestra, truly representing the country’s cultural diversity.

This was decided during a meeting chaired by Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb. The meeting was held to review preparations for celebrating Pakistan’s 70th independence anniversary.

PNCA director-general Jamal Shah has been assigned to submit a detailed proposal in the context.



The minister directed officials concerned to leave no stone unturned in preparations to celebrate the Independence Day in a befitting manner.

The ministry and all its allied departments should make concerted efforts to make the celebrations a historic event, she said, adding that art, culture and heritage of the country should be duly highlighted during the course of the celebrations.

Marriyum directed PTV to make quality products and creative promos to highlight Pakistan’s historic win against India in the Champion Trophy final. “This is indeed a landmark achievement,” she said.

The historic win had united the whole nation and created a rare sense of solidarity among the people of Pakistan, she said. “Therefore, the ministry should pro-actively play its due role in consolidating the gains of this historic triumph,” she added.



The meeting also approved the design to be used as official logo for the 70th Independence Day celebrations.

The minister of state called for implementing all activities approved in the plan with dedication and asked the authorities concerned to finalise a calendar of events to be held in the country and abroad.

She said that special programmes creating awareness about indigenous art, culture and heritage should be prepared and aired.

The meeting was attended, among others, by the secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the principal information officer of PID, the directors general of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, the External Publicity Wing, the Internal Publicity Wing and the Cyber Wing, and the APP MD.
