KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that light drizzle is expected to continue across the city till Eidul Fitr.

Karachi receives scattered rainfall

According to regional Met office spokesperson Shahid Abbas, light rainfall was recorded in various parts of the city on Saturday morning as well as late Friday evening. "On Friday, the airport locality received light rain, while on Saturday morning light rainfall was recorded in the areas near the airport such as Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar," he said.

The spokesperson said that light rain and drizzle is expected to continue till Eid. He added that wind is circulating at the speed of 20 kilometres per hour, while in the coming week it will be circulating on an average between 15km per hour to 25km per hour.  Referring to the monsoon season, he said this is not a pre-monsoon condition and is only a local development in the atmosphere.

Speaking about the weather in upper Sindh in the coming week, he said a light drizzle is expected in the extreme south-west region of the province. "The upper division of Sindh will witness rainfall in the next four days because the rainfall system is moving in from the western front of the country towards Punjab and upper Sindh, where the showers will happen," he said.

However, according to him hot weather will persist in south-eastern region of the province, although the intensity will decrease. "For the time being, no rain is expected to take place in this region," the spokesperson added.
