The provincial government has ordered all district education authorities’ (DEAs) chief executive officers (CEOs) to re-verify public school enrollment data for the year 2017-18.

They were ordered to dispatch the information to the Punjab School Education Department (SED) “to avoid embarrassment” for the government.

In a letter issued to all DEA CEOs, the SED referred to a similar letter by the Punjab Chief Minister’s Monitoring Force of the School Education Department. “The government wants to re-verify enrolment figures to avoid embarrassment during a meeting at a higher forum.”

“In light of the above, you (CEOs) are directed to provide fresh enrolment data of your district from Kachi to Class 5 (K-5) between the period between April 1, 2017 and May 5, 2017 (First Phase). The letter required the CEOs to furnish the information to the office by June 17, 2017.
