Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Marriyum Aurangzeb issued these directives on Wednesday while chairing a consultative meeting on the upcoming launch of Children Entertainment Channel.
According to a press release, Aurangzeb has also asked PTV to submit a detailed plan with a complete timeline for embedding children’s content in all PTV channels.
PTV Global to be converted into children’s TV network
“A separate entertainment channel for children is the need of the hour because no work has been done so far for children,” she said. “Indigenous content is imperative to connect future generations with our culture and heritage.”
Our children need the kind of content that could educate them and build their character by generating feelings of goodness, modesty and inquisitiveness about the world around them, she added.
The information minister directed PTV management to utilise all resources to produce quality content for children, which would inculcate cultural and religious values.
The meeting, which was attended by the information secretary and PTV management, also deliberated various fast-track options with the least cost for the launch of a dedicated children’s entertainment channel.
