RAWALPINDI: A woman was killed under mysterious circumstances in Chaklala Railway Colony shortly after sehri on Sunday morning.

Captain (retired) Muhammad Javaid, a government employee, told the Airport police that shortly after sehri, he had left his home to go to a nearby mosque to offer his morning prayers. His wife, Nasreen Javaid, was at home alone.

When he returned, he stated in his complaint, he saw his wife lying in a pool of blood with a bullet wound in her chest.

Capt (retd) Javaid told the police that he did not have any enmity with anyone and that nothing was found missing from his house.

He added that he along with his wife and children had visited his brother’s house in Shamsabad on Saturday evening for an iftar. While he and his wife returned earlier, his children came back after Sehri.

When contacted, SI Anwar Hussain, the investigation officer in the case, said that they were investigating the case from a number of angles, including an attempted robbery.

However, SI Hussain said that Capt Javaid in his complaint had made no mention of any robbery attempt.

The investigation officer further said that when he visited the house, he too did not find anything missing.

Moreover, SI Hussain said that Capt (retd) Javaid told him that the gate of his house was locked from inside when he returned from morning prayers.

SI Hussain further said that the unidentified killer may have scaled the boundary wall of the house to gain access.

He noted that further investigations were underway to determine the facts in the case and to ascertain what had happened.

In another incident, armed robbers took away valuables worth Rs5 million from the house of a local politician affiliated with Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s Awami Muslim League (AML).

After barging into the house of Sardar Raza Khan, robbers held his family at gunpoint and took away cash and jewellery worth Rs5 million.

Airport police, after registering a case of theft, has started investigations.
