LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has termed the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Panamagate case as the election cell of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Speaking to media at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on Sunday, on his return to Pakistan after six months, the PAT chief stated that the investigation team was making PML-N’s manifesto for the upcoming general elections in 2018.

“There was no hope of justice from the JIT,” he claimed.

Qadri said that the photo of Hussain Nawaz being leaked was dramatized and was no less than plot of a movie.

He reiterated that revolution and change would come in Pakistan to alter the fate of the country.

“If elections are held without reforms, it will be a repeat of the earlier elections of 2013,” he reiterated.

PAT chief further said that he would not remain silent on the Model Town brutality, and fight for the justice till his death.

He made it clear that he would not lose courage and continue this battle against the rulers.

“Qisas of Model Town massacre is part of our faith. We will continue fighting for it till last breath of our lives.

“Progress on Model Town massacre has stalled. The killers of the PAT workers are not being summoned,” he said.

He said he would announce his strategy regarding Model Town incident soon and also planned on meeting leaders of other political parties, and a sitting with Chaudhry brothers was expected shortly.

A number of Qadri followers were present at the Lahore airport to welcome their leader, who then escorted him to his home in Model Town.

In compliance with the Supreme Court’s order, the JIT has submitted a separate application to highlight the problems it has been facing during the investigation of the Sharifs’ offshore businesses.

The application has been submitted by the JIT’s head Wajid Zia to the Supreme Court’s registrar.

The JIT will submit its reply with regard to Hussain Nawaz’s plea to direct the JIT members to ‘immediately’ stop video recording of the JIT proceedings on Monday.

Hussain had also requested the Supreme Court to constitute an ‘independent commission’ headed by a retired or a sitting judge of the apex court to probe into the circumstances leading to the leak of his photograph on social media. The apex court’s three-judge special bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, will take up Hussain’s plea today (Monday).

The PTI is also said to be preparing a petition along with complete record to prove that the PML-N leadership is involved in campaigning against the apex court and the JIT. The petition will be filed on Monday.
