Student sets internet into frenzy over possibility of 'NEWS' being an acronym

Safe to say, people were shook

An undergraduate student from the University of Maryland, USA, made people question the entire education system by tweeting that NEWS was an acronym for "Notable events , weather, and sports".

The tweet that shook the internet and spread like wildfire over all social media platforms so far has over 29,000 retweets on Twitter.

With this alleged epiphany spread over social media, people started to question everything.



There was a trend in the responses, here's our observation:

Let us offer you some clarity: NEWS is not an acronym, it has a clearly defined meaning stated in every dictionary in the world. But the upholders of truth came to the rescue of the public and with a simple word shook away these false allegations:

The company felt the need to intervene and also bring to light the actual definition of the word news which means, "a report of recent events." However, it did not stop there. After the initial tweet, a respondent posted an alternative meaning:

The crowd soon realised that news is not an acronym, and only stands for the coverage and/or reporting of recent events and incidents.



However, the response of some of the Twitter users will leave you clutching your stomachs:
