ISLAMABAD: In a bid to curb street crime in the capital, Islamabad Police have chalked out a new plan under which Frontier Corps personnel would be deployed along with cops to patrol the streets.

SSP-Operations Sajid Kiani has divided the city into sub-sectors under a comprehensive plan to overcome street crime in the capital, a police spokesperson said on Thursday.

A police official with a rank of ASI, along with a policeman and an FC official would be assigned a sub-sector.

They would mostly focus their efforts in the evening.

Apart from the FC officials, as many as 600 police officials will patrol the streets.

All relevant SDPOs and SHOs have been directed to periodically check these squads and brief them about effective policing measures.

SSP Kiani hoped the measure would help overcome street crime, motorbike and car snatching, purse snatching and other criminal activities.

In the event of any incident of street crime in the capital, the relevant officials and patrolling teams would be held answerable.
