Seven injured in IED explosion near passenger vehicle in Bajaur

The incident took place in the border area of Mamond, says official

KHAR: At least seven people were injured when a remote controlled bomb exploded on the roadside near a vehicle carrying passengers in Dabar area of Bajaur Agency.

An official of the political administration said the explosion took place in the border area of Mamond. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Khar tehsil, he added.

Earlier in January, a Levies Force man was killed after a remote-controlled IED exploded in Mamond area. The Levies official, identified as Dilawar Khan, died in the blast at the sentry post at Loy Mamond near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.



Pakistan Army launched an operation in June 2014 to wipe out militant bases in the tribal regions and bring an end to a bloody insurgency that has cost thousands of civilian lives since 2004.

It has conducted a series of military offensives as well as concerted efforts to block militants’ sources of funding. But the remnants of militant groups are still able to carry out periodic bloody attacks.
