ISLAMABAD: The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad has decided to form a four-member committee to investigate the alleged malpractices of Earth Sciences Department Chairperson Professor Dr Moona Liza.

A decision on this was taken during the 170th syndicate meeting of the university which was held on Wednesday.

According to an official of the varsity, QAU Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Ashraf chaired the syndicate meeting. After deliberating over the matter, they decided that Barrister Zafarullah would head the committee while Major (Retired) Tahir Iqbal, Dr Tassawar Hayat and Dr Waqar Shah would be the other members of the committee.

Faculty members of the Earth Science Department had filed an application against Prof Liza, accusing her of showing negligence in managing and appointing illegal people in the varsity.

Apart from the Earth Science issue, the meeting also discussed the matter of a senior faculty member from the International Relations department who had left the country without obtaining a NOC from the varsity – as is required.
