It took a long time for Wonder Woman to get her due.

Long after male characters like Superman, Batman, Iron Man and even Aquaman and Ant-Man made the leap from comic books to the silver screen – and 76 years after she first appeared in print – Wonder Woman the film made a splashy debut this weekend on netting just over $100 million from North American screens alone.

Which makes the news that Gal filmed most of the film while pregnant all the more surprising. The actor, who did all her stunts for her Fast & Furious roles, even did re-shoots while she was five months pregnant and had to wear a green screen baby bump version of her costume, reported Cosmopolitan. She elcomed her second daughter Maya in March.

Gal Gadot announces her new baby girl in the most 'Wonder'-ful way

Business Insider pointed out that a couple of months back, Entertainment Weekly did a report on Gal's pregnancy and the film. Even allowing stunt doubles, Wonder Woman must have been one of the most physically demanding superhero movie shoots.

When it came to doing those re-shoots, Gal had to wear a version of her costume with the middle cut out. This wasn't some bizarre costume choice; it was because she was so far along, her baby bump was showing.

Gal even joked, "On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman. On wide shots, I looked very funny, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog."

Gal Gadot nearly quit acting before 'Wonder Woman'

But director Patty Jenkins saw it for what it was. "Gal's pregnant during parts of the movie, in a suit out in a field in the freezing cold in others. There are so many things we asked her to do: now do it on one foot. Now shout while you’re doing it. Now it’s raining in the freezing cold and you’ve lost your voice, go. Everyday it was a hilarious gauntlet and she would do it."

Bow down in wonder to the woman who truly embodies Diana's warrior spirit, no matter what the challenge.
