PEMRA asks Geo to stop airing ICC Trophy footages

PEMRA directs Geo News and Geo Super to stop airing live or recorded footages of ICC Champions Trophy 2017

ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV Sports) lodged a complaint with the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Saturday against Geo Super and Geo News for illegally using footages from PTV Sports, thereby infringing legitimate rights of PTVC - as PTV Sports has obtained rights for the ICC Champions Trophy.

In response, PEMRA issued a statement, directing Geo News and Geo Super to stop airing live or recorded footages of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, in any manner. “All other satellite TV channels are also directed to refrain from airing illegal footages from PTV Sports,” it further said.

PEMRA issues notices to private TV channel for spreading hatred against military

The PEMRA statement also directed all cable operators not to air any illegal sports channel, warning the violators of a strict action.
