11 policemen punished over negligence

On proving involvement in a robbery incident, the DPO dismissed ASI Jahangir Khan from service.

SARGODHA: At least 11 policemen were awarded punishment over negligent behaviour and poor performance in Sargodha on Friday.

DPO Sohail Chaudhry awarded the punishments. A police spokesperson said that four ASIs, one sub-inspector, five constables and a driver were punished. On proving involvement in a robbery incident, the DPO dismissed ASI Jahangir Khan from service while driver Khaliq was retired from service over serious charges.

Similarly Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ramzan, ASIs Rab Nawaz, Nazir Shahzad, Constables Farooq Shahzad, Zeeshan, Aashiq Hussain, Ashfaq, Asif Tanveer were given different punishments over negligence and poor performance. The DPO also issued warning to 13 other police officers and constables.

Meanwhile, RPO Zulfiqar Hameed ordered transfer of four police officers. A police official said that Sub-Inspector Imran Siddiqui has been transferred from Elite Force Punjab and posted at Khushab Police station, Sub-Inspector Mehr Khan transferred to Punjab Highway Patrolling Police, Sub-Inspector Fazal Kareem posted at Bhakkar police station while trainee Sub-Inspector Zaid Abdullah has been transferred from Mianwali and posted at Sargodha district.

Profiteers nabbed

The police and district administration conducted raids and arrested 23 traders for profiteering in Sargodha. The district authorities said magistrates conducted raids at Satellite Town, Qainchee Morr, Tahli Chowk, Chak 46, Chungi 12, Chak 38, Shahpur Saddar, Nehang, Jhaverian and other places and arrested Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Sajid, Waqas Ikraam, Asghar Ali, Nazir Ahmad, Mazhar Hussain, Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Akbar, Muhammad javed, Mushtaq Ahmad, Waris Ali etc.
