Govt to take Fata reforms process to logical end, says Nisar

Says journey to development can only be ensured through practical steps, not through slogans

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said the decision to carry out reforms and merge the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) is in itself an achievement of the present government, which will take the process to its logical conclusion.

“Efforts of the federal government in the past four years towards security of the province [and its] political stability and development are a clear manifestation that journey to development can only be ensured through practical steps and not through mere slogans and claims,” Nisar said on Friday.

The minister was talking to Engineer Ameer Muqam, PM’s Adviser and President PML-N K-P, who had called on him here.



“Maintenance of law and order in K-P and socio-economic development of people are among the foremost priorities of the government,” he added.

During the meeting, Nisar underlined the need for proactive role of party workers for resolution of real issues of the people of the province. He said he would visit Peshawar in the next few days and a future strategy would be formulated in consultation with party leadership.

According to a statement, the two leaders also discussed the overall situation of the country, especially the politics in K-P and development projects in the province.  They also discussed issues related to issuance of the computerised national identity cards (CNICs) and passports in K-P and Fata.



On the occasion, the interior minister ordered that after verification, the blocked CNICs of people belonging to Fata and K-P be reactivated. [WITH ADDITIONAL INPUT FROM APP]
