
The city police arrested sixty-two street criminals and nabbed over six hundred beggars during its special campaign to control street crime and incidence of robberies during the current year. The police also recovered looted items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, 56 cell phones, five cars and one motorbike from the possession of the arrested suspects.
So far this year, City Circle Police have arrested six suspects involved in street crime and recovered 20 cell phones while Saddar Circle Police arrested 32 suspects and recovered 19 cell phones as well as three snatched cars from the suspects’ possession.
Industrial Circle Police arrested 19 suspects and recovered three cell phones, cash and one snatched car from them. Likewise, Rural Zone Police nabbed five suspects and recovered six cell phones and one car from their possession.
Islamabad police also apprehended 683 beggars during the current year in an effort to curb professional begging.
SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan directed all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions and take stern action against anti-social elements.
He also directed them to ensure vigilance against suspects and perform effective checking at all entry and exit points in the city.
