The Islamabad Police, to facilitate residents of the capital, has launched an online registration system for tenants and landlords to register themselves. The monitoring system has been developed in the directions of Inspector General of Islamabad Police (IGP) Khalid Khattak.
Government to introduce online visa application system
People can access the system through the Islamabad police website (Islamabadpolice.gov.pk/tnt). The interface is divided for tenant and landlord. If the property has been rented through a property dealer, details of the property dealer can also be submitted through a simple form present on the same page. Complete details of the property including the sector, type (choice of residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial). Details of the rental agreement including its duration and an option to upload the relevant documents.
Curiously though, the tenancy section of the online form includes a section which requires details of the make and model of the car they have. The form is equally applicable for Pakistani citizens as well as foreigners.
The system will now be made a permanent feature of the security process, a police spokesperson said, adding that it would help keep an eye on the activities of suspects and ensure the security of the citizens.
The IGP said that with the introduction of this ‘strictly supervised tool’ and its efficiency towards security, Islamabad police would become more alert.
Move hailed
Residents of the capital have meanwhile hailed the introduction of an online registration system by the police.

“This is a welcome step by the police which would facilitate the public. However, police also need to simplify the process of reporting a crime and submitting a complaint,” said Shahzad, a resident of the capital.
While the police have not strictly enforced tenancy regulations in the capital where a number of tenants said they had yet to register themselves with their local police station, every property dealer is required to submit details of the tenants who acquire properties through them.
However, unlike in the Punjab, an oath signed by the tenant on official stamp papers is not required by the capital police.
