Power outages continue to make lives of the citizens miserable even in Ramazan
ISLAMABAD: The citizens of Karachi were looking forward to a peaceful and calm day to start their first day of Ramazan, hoping that this time the promise of no power outage will actually be fulfilled. But the first sehr of the holy month was prepared in candlelight in the metropolitan city, while some parts of Karachi also faced electricity outages during iftar. The situation has persisted since then with three continuous days of untimely power outages.
Stating that a power outage is a perennial problem in the city that needs to be resolved is like drumming for the deaf. This is why the residents of the city only hoped to spend their iftar and sehr times in electricity without pressing for resolving power outages completely. However, this plea too fell on deaf ears.
Power outages continue to make lives of the citizens miserable even in Ramazan, as they don’t only occur during designated times, according to different localities, but, in fact, throughout the day. Sometimes for four to five hours straight. The problem only seems to worsen every year, despite the promises that are made. The rising temperatures have already made fasting difficult for many and the electricity providing company has only pledged to help worsen it further. But if they can put their resources in trying to ease it instead only during Ramazan, the citizens will be much obliged, counting it as one of the blessings of the holy month.
