KARACHI: A fumigation campaign that is soon to be kick-started in the city will help fight the mosquito-borne diseases in Sindh. The campaign will start after the holy month of Ramazan, from the beginning of July. However, such an approach is very limited as not all mosquito-borne diseases are transmitted through mosquitoes that breed in clean water, for instance, malaria which is transferred by a mosquito species whose larvae are found in a wide range of habitats, including garbage. Hence, efforts to curb the trash disposed on the streets should also be made to control the threat of such diseases.
