Youm-e-Takbeer: AJK people vow to reinforce Pak defence

Speakers highlight significance of the day Pakistan became a nuclear power.

MIRPUR: Like across the country, Youm-e-Takbeer was observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Sunday with a pledge to defend the country against any aggression.

To mark the day, special prayers were offered for peace, progress and prosperity of the country.

On this historic day in 1998, Pakistan had detonated six nuclear devices in response to five of India to become the seventh declared nuclear power of the world.

Speakers in special meetings to celebrate the historic day in various parts of AJK renewed the pledge to devote all their energies to make Pakistan strong and prosperous besides safeguarding every inch of the motherland by standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the valiant defence forces of the country.

They said that a strong and prosperous Pakistan was the guarantee to the freedom of Kashmir.



“People of Jammu and Kashmir will continue in their struggle to make Pakistan strong, stable and prosperous besides bolstering the defence of the country,” AJK minister for Sports Culture and Youth Muhammad Saeed vowed at a meeting held on Sunday.

The meeting was followed by a youth march to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer.

The people were reminded of the zeal and fervour of the nation when Pakistani scientists successfully conducted a series of nuclear tests in the Chaghi mountain of Balochistan, making the country’s defence impregnable.

With demonstration of atomic capabilities, Pakistan became the first Islamic nuclear power and seventh world power under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who stood firmly in the face of international pressures and lucrative offers of aid to abandon the plan to conduct the tests.
