Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who has a five-year-old son Viaan feels she is very fortunate to be able to continue working after motherhood, reported Bollywood.com.
The 41-year-old actor, who owns a production house, says that in a job, one at least gets to take breaks but it’s a totally different ball game when it comes to running a household and raising a child.
“I totally respect the fact that if you are a homemaker, it’s even more than a full-time job. In a job, you have breaks and can switch-off. Here, it’s a thankless job. You are underpaid and overworked,” she says.
Shilpa Shetty hints 'Dhadkan' is being remade
The Dhadkan star says that women multi-task and work round the clock and what's more, they do it better than men. “Women are doing everything and anything. I can even go to the extent of saying that they are doing it better than men. There isn’t anything that we are not capable of doing," she stated. "We are multi-faceted personalities and are able to multi-task much better than men. We look after our family. We take care of our in laws, children, our husbands, which is a full-time job in itself... and plus we bring home the bread. There are a lot of women who are doing all of that today,” she added.
The actor adds that she makes sure to engage Viaan in extra-curricular activities. “These days play dates have become a new way to entertain children. I don’t know how our parents did it. I do my best to keep Viaan occupied in extra-curricular activities. There is a teacher who comes home for gymnastics... he loves that. He doesn’t need that many play dates,” she says.
