Directing traffic during Ramazan

Karachi s' residents to use alternative routes to avoid snarls during the Holy month

KARACHI: The Karachi traffic police have finally come to the rescue of its motorists’ perennial problem: traffic jams. It recently advised residents to use alternative routes to avoid snarls during Ramazan. And that’s not all, the Lyari Expressway will also be open from 2pm till 8pm from Mauripur till Sohrab Goth and around 500 traffic police constables will be deployed at different areas in the city, especially ones that have heavy flows of traffic. Such a move is highly commendable as the increasing traffic jams have made the lives of residents miserable. And in Ramazan, people are often impatient and in a hurry to reach their homes early and right in time to break the fast. Many motorists quarrel over small issues and in return cause a halt in the flow of traffic. The deployment of constables and wardens will help ease such situations. To facilitate residents even during Taraweeh prayers, the traffic police have arranged alternative routes in areas where these prayers are held. May be this year, there will be a smooth flow of traffic during the holy month.
