SWABI: President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday said that contemporary education has played a significant role in the progress, sustained economic development and prosperity of a nation.

“Pakistan is on track of economic progress,” he said addressing Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology on the occasion of 21st convocation.

“I feel confident that our young generation is fully prepared and capable to face the new emerging challenges,” he said.

He conferred degrees on 329 BS and 40 MS and 6 PhD graduates and awarded gold medals to outstanding students.

The president who is chancellor of the GIK Institute said that Pakistan’s future was very bright and students are the country’s future. He said that a huge foreign investment is coming to Pakistan under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He called on young engineers to be ready for joining the CEPC project because several opportunities would be available to them. He said that a number of countries, especially the Central Asian republics have shown great interest in joining the CPEC project.
