Polio vaccination supervisor shot dead in Bannu

BANNU:
A polio vaccination drive supervisor was gunned down in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) Bannu district on Wednesday.
“Supervisor Raif Khan was standing outside a mobile shop when two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him," a senior officer of the Cantonment Police Station told The Express Tribune.
Residents rushed Khan to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police have registered a case against the unidentified attackers and started investigating the case.

Last week, anti-polio campaigns were conducted in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), K-P and Balochistan.
In Fata, 1.04 million children, under the age of five, were vaccinated with oral polio vaccine through 4,272 vaccination teams, comprising 3,889 mobile, 282 fixed and 101 transit teams.
In K-P, around 5.6 million children were vaccinated against the crippling virus.
