ISLAMABAD: Delay in issuing a notification of promotion by the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has left over 2,400 teachers feeling insecure about their promotions.

The teachers working in the Islamabad Capital Territory schools had been promoted by a departmental promotion committee on April 11.

The time-scale promotion committee, which has representation from the establishment and finance divisions and headed by CADD additional secretary, had promoted trained graduate teachers, physical training instructors and drawing teachers from basic pay scale-16 to 17 with effect from January 1, 2016.

The move came as the departmental promotion committee met after a delay of one-and-a-half years.

However, the delay in issuing official orders of the final nod granted by the committee has been a cause of concern among the teachers who believe that the CADD is causing further delays in the promotions.

These teachers had been first promoted in grade 16 from 14 in 2011 and were considered for promotion after five years.

Owing to the resultant unrest among the teachers, President of Federal Government Teachers Association Malik Ameer demanded the issuance of a notification before the budget.
