The city of litter

In some areas the flow of traffic is disturbed because of the rubbish lying on sides of the roads

KARACHI: At the beginning of the year, over 20 garbage-lifting machines and garbage compactor trucks were brought to Karachi from China. The authorities concerned had pledged to free the metropolitan city from the piles of garbage adorning every nook of it, and polluting the environment. However, it has been over three months and besides a few trash cans installed in some areas, no real work seems to be taking place. The streets are still covered with heaps of garbage and the air we breathe in is still polluted with unbearable stench released from the waste. In fact, in some areas the flow of traffic is disturbed because of the rubbish lying on sides of the roads as well.
