LAHORE:
The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed on Tuesday the kitchen of a restaurant at a five-star hotel in Bhurban over unhygienic conditions.

According to sources, a PFA team led by Director Operations North Bilawal Abro made a routine inspection visit to the hotel.

Ice cream at the kitchen, which provided food to an indoor café of the hotel, was not up to the mark and probably expired, sources said. Similarly, cockroaches were also found in the kitchen.

Eateries fined

Keeping in the view the unhygienic conditions, the PFA team imposed a fine of Rs100,000, and sealed the kitchen.

The kitchen will remain sealed for at least seven days, following which it can be de-sealed on orders of DG PFA Noorul Amin Mengal. The period can also be extended.

Late last year, another kitchen of the same hotel was fined because of similar reasons.  The hotel administration had transferred an officer from Lahore to Bhurban to address the situation since it was fined last time, a hotel source privy to the development told The Express Tribune.
