Footballers come to Pakistan

Letter May 23, 2017
It will encourage our amateur footballers playing ‘gulli football’ to hone their skills

KARACHI: The news of French footballer and former Arsenal star Robert Pires coming to Pakistan comes as a ray of hope for football fans across the country. This July Pires will be joining Brazilian legend Ronaldinho Gaucho in a Leisure Leagues event.

Pakistan recently saw a revival of international cricket after the unfortunate terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team that suspended the tours of foreign teams to the country. With the news of Pires coming and joining other renowned footballers participating in the event, such as Dutch player George Boateng and England’s David James, seems like we might be able to host international football in the near future. At least, we can hope so. This will also encourage our amateur footballers playing ‘gulli football’ to hone their skills and get ready for the international arena.
