PESHAWAR: Scores of students gathered outside the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor House to protest against the lack of facilities available at the only degree college in Landi Kotal Tehsil, on Monday.

The students rallied from Peshawar Press Club to Governor House where they demanded scholarships for talented pupils, facilities at the college and actions against the political administration which resorted to baton charge when they were protesting outside the college last week.

The protesters said that on March 18 they had gathered to demand basic facilities at their college but the political administration baton charged them which resulted in the injuries of three students.

“There is not electricity available at the college for the last four months,” said Rahim Ullah who was leading the protesters. “It is just college by name, an empty building where even drinking water is not available for the students,” he said adding that their demands are genuine and should be accepted at once.

The protesters were holding placards inscribed with slogans against the administration and demands for resolving their issues; however, they have not received anyone to give them assurance.

The demonstrators then turned towards the Fata secretariat to talk to concerned officials and conclude their protest. “They have only said, like always, that all the problems of the college will be solved soon,” said Rahim.
