Amin, Haris under consideration to replace Umar: Inzamam
Pakistan chief selector Inzamam says both left-handed batsmen have proved their mettle in domestic circuit
Pakistan national team chief selector Inzamamul Haq on Monday said left-handed batsmen Umar Amin and Haris Sohail were being considered to replace middle-order batsman Umar Akmal in the Champions Trophy squad.
Umar was on Sunday sent back to Pakistan after failing two fitness tests during the eight-team tournament’s preparation camp in Birmingham.
“Amin and Haris have performed well in the domestic circuit and that is why their names are under consideration to replace Umar,” said Inzamam as quoted by Express News.
Inzamam then advised Umar to focus more on his fitness.
“Umar was not able to pass two fitness tests so he is being sent back from England,” said Inzamam. “He needs to focus more on his fitness now.”
Inzamam also revealed that Umar was “fit before the Pakistan Cup”.
