No new taxes this year: Shehbaz

The budget would be friendly for public, industrialists and farmers.

LAHORE: New taxes will not be imposed in the up-coming budget, said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He was presiding over a 2017-18 budget review meeting on Sunday.  The chief minister said new schemes were being introduced for the welfare of people.

The budget would be friendly for public, industrialists and farmers. This year, more funds would be allocated for backward regions of the province, he added. The chief minister said similar development policy would be adopted for cities and rural areas of the province.

Presiding over another meeting held on Sunday regarding development budget for next fiscal year, Shehbaz said the development targets have been achieved due to effective implementation policy. He added that record development budget would be unveiled for the next fiscal year.

He said that implementation of development projects was the top priority of the government. More development funds would be allocated for Southern Punjab contrary to proportional allocation.
