Special court seeks details of Musharraf’s properties
A three-member bench headed by Justice Yahya Afridi continued its hearing of the high treason case against the former president and observed that the interior ministry report on Musharraf’s properties was incomplete as DHA Karachi and Lahore had not provided the requisite information of the properties mentioned in the report.
The special court comprises Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Tahira Safdar of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) and Justice Yawar Ali of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
“We direct the Ministry of Interior to furnish the requisite information regarding the properties mentioned in the report before the next date of hearing,” it said.
The bench continued that “in case Defence Housing Authority Lahore and Karachi fail to submit the requisite information to the Ministry of Interior, we direct the directors-general or administrators of DHAs Lahore and Karachi to appear in person along with the record properties mentioned in the report.”
‘Red warrants’ may be issued for Pervez Musharraf
During the hearing, the court was informed that the government was ready to provide Musharraf complete security upon his return.
Lead prosecutor Akram Sheikh said that “an accused cannot dictate his terms for appearance before the court, however, in case, General (retd) Musharraf surrenders himself and appears before this court the state undertakes to give him all the security that he availed as president of Pakistan.”
The next hearing is scheduled for July 18.
