ISLAMABAD: Residents of many sectors of the capital were facing a severe shortage of water in sweltering hot weather. The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) water supply system was running dry for the last many weeks adding to the woes of people cursing the power cuts. A resident of sector G-10, Kashif Ahmed said: “I have been residing in this sector for last so many years, but this is the first summer we have experienced cuts in water supply.” He was of the view that water was the basic amenity of life but “I think the body concerned was not aware of this fact.” Another resident Sana Khan of sector G-8 complained of erratic supply of water through CDA pipelines.  “Sometimes a trickling flow of water comes at night for a short period of time,” she said. People said they were getting water through water tankers on heavy payments, besides the CDA water bowsers. They urged the authorities concerned to improve the water supply system in different sectors including I-9, I-10, G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10 and G-11.
