Users were unable to send or receive messages for a short period of time last night.
WhatsApp is used by 1 billion people worldwide, including businesses and governments. Any hindrance in its service creates a massive outcry. Two weeks ago, a similar connectivity issue affected WhatsApp.
Beware of this latest WhatsApp scam
Many took to twitter to vent their frustration over the issue:
Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn’t maintain a status page to alert users when it's facing an outage. A Twitter account intended to serve that purpose hasn’t been updated since 2014.
Monitoring website Down Detector stated that around half of complaints received (56 per cent) were related to connection issues, while 32 per cent of those who logged problems with the site said they were having trouble receiving messages.
WhatsApp is down worldwide and everyone is freaking out
Let's hope this doesn't become a recurring feature as millions of users rely on WhatsApp on a daily basis.
