Annual CPNE elections held in Karachi

Zia Shahid elected president, Aijazul Haq elected general secretary

KARACHI: The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) held its annual elections on Wednesday.

Zia Shahid was elected as the body’s president while Shaheen Qureshi and Aijazul Haq were elected as senior vice president and general secretary respectively.

Felicitating the newly elected CPNE office-bearers, President Mamnoon Hussain said they will help strengthen the body. In a separate message, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said print media plays an important role in promoting democracy.

In the elections held in Karachi,   Aamir Mehmood was elected as CPNE Sindh vice president, Anwar Sajdi as Balochistan vice president, Tahir Farooq as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa vice president, Rehmat Ali Razi as Punjab vice president and Mehtab Khan as Islamabad vice president.

Haroon Shah, Ghulam Nabi Chandio, Mushtaq Qureshi and Kazim Khan were elected as CPNE joint secretary, finance secretary and information secretary respectively.
