ISLAMABAD: The appointment of a new president of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) was challenged before the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday on grounds that it had been done without lawful authority, malicious and in complete derogation and violation of the law. The government had recently appointed Saeed Ahmad as President of NBP. Ahmad was previously serving as the deputy governor of the State Bank. However, Malik Qamar Abbas approached the IHC on Wednesday, challenging Ahmad’s appointment. He made Ahmad, secretary Ministry of Finance, secretary establishment and the NBP as the respondents in the case.
