Sukkur Barrage, which is one the unique barrages in the world, has completed its life, said Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday.
He said this while speaking to World Bank Country Director in Pakistan, Patchamuthu Illangovan, who met him at the CM House. "We know that construction of such a state-of-the-art barrage is not only difficult but almost impossible," he added. "Therefore, the barrage should be rehabilitated."

Murad and Illangovan agreed to seek the help of British experts from the same firm that constructed the Sukkur Barrage for its rehabilitation. Illangovan said he will invite some independent experts as well to seek advice.
They discussed the Karachi old city rehabilitation project, Sindh neighbourhood project, establishment of solar power stations in various districts of the province, Sindh nutrition programme and major reforms in Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to make it a self-sufficient organisation. The CM and the World Bank country chief will be meeting in Islamabad soon to review progress in the projects they discussed at the CM House on Wednesday.
