SUKKUR: Hundreds of peasants condemned the beating of peasants in Khanewal three days ago while they were protesting against the Rangers for occupying their lands. The Pakistan Kissan Mazdoor Tehreek members, led by its chairman Raja Mujeeb Mahar, started their demonstration from Bhittai Chowk and ended it outside the Mirpur Mathelo press club where they staged a sit-in. They said that land allotted to peasants in Khanewal by the government was occupied by the Rangers. At an earlier protest, the farmers were baton-charged by the police and several of them were injured while others were arrested.
