Top leadership of the party were booked under charges of damaging public property and attacking police

KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairperson Mustafa Kamal and other top leadership of the party were booked by the police under charges of damaging public property, attacking police and violating the Section 144, it emerged on Tuesday.

The case was lodged Sunday night after the PSP workers and the police scuffled on main Sharae Faisal, when the former tried to march towards the Chief Minister House.

Kamal, party president Anis Kaimkhani, general secretary Raza Haroon and other leaders, including Asif Hasnain, Anis Advocate, Waseem Aftab, Ashfaq Mangi, Iftikhar Alam, Dr Sagheer Ahmed and Hafeezuddin, were nominated in the FIR.

The case was registered on the complaint of the state under section 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offense), 186 (obstructing public servant from performing duty), 353 (attacking police), 506 (criminal intimidation), 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 427 (mischief causing damage), 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 at the Saddar police station.

Though Kamal and other leaders of the party were arrested by the police during the PSP 'Million March' Sunday night, they, however, were released few hours later, reportedly after the intervention of interior ministry.
