Minimising food wastage during Ramazan

Letter May 17, 2017
We should pledge to reduce wastage

HYDERABAD: Ramazan is right around the corner. And as the anticipation along with the preparation of the holy month begins, so will the concerns of excessive food wastage.

During this month, when people are supposed to have the most patience and facilitate the needy through gestures as little as giving Rs10 a day, a surge is seen in food wastage. This often happens because in the bid to provide the ‘best discounted Ramazan deal’ by all most every other eatery, people order in bulk to avail the offer but end up consuming very little of it.

This year, we should pledge to reduce wastage and, if any leftovers are present, make sure to hand them over to the beggars on streets.
