Users on the popular messaging platform have been receiving messages tricking users to visit a http://шһатѕарр.com/?colors domain that promises to let them install WhatsApp in different colours.
The malicious website redirects users to http://blackwhats.site/ which asks them to share the link to multiple groups for human verification. Once done, users are tricked into installing adware through a Chrome extension on their computer.
WhatsApp will never send out messages for any updates on the popular messaging platform which is why anyone remotely tech savvy would know the link is fake. However, there are some who may fall for the fake URL which seems very convincing at first.
Users are therefore advised to stay away from such spam messages and refrain from sharing them with other WhatsApp users.
