This was the crux of views expressed at a seminar on Quality of Media Content, Role of Regulators, Media Professionals and Owners. It was held at the University of Central Punjab on Monday.
The speakers highlighted the importance of the vibrant media industry and implications of controlling media organisation owners as well as the impact of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

Speaking at the seminar, senior journalist Saleem Bukhari said that the electronic media had proved to be irresponsible and people appearing on the television screens spoke without knowledge and with impunity.
Another senior journalist, Dr Mughees, said the media needed to review its role as the “breaking news race” and sensationalism was harming the social fabric of society.
