Nabbed: Suspects involved in robbing millions held

His van was carrying Rs24.7 million in cash to a money exchange shop in Wazirabad.

LAHORE: Police claimed to have arrested two suspects involved in looting over Rs24.7 million from a cash carrying van in Shahdara last night.

Tayyab Imtiaz Butt, in his complaint filed with police, said that his van was carrying Rs24.7 million in cash to a money exchange shop in Wazirabad. As they reached near Amir Shadi Hall, two unidentified suspects intercepted the vehicle, looted the cash and fled from the scene. A case was registered against unidentified suspects.

After receiving information on the robbery, police started snap checking at different pickets in nearby areas. A senior police officer said the suspects were arrested near Sabzi Mandi. Police also recovered cash and valuables from their custody.

Police said the suspects were history-sheeters and they have been to jails a number of times.
