Reviewing the new OPPO F3

OPPO releases its first budget friendly "Selfie Expert"

May 09, 2017

OPPO has made it their goal to dominate the camera phone market, and they’ve exceeded all expectations with the release of the F3 plus a month ago. Their next foray into the camera phone market is the kind that will make people on a budget take a sigh of relief. The F3 is another OPPO smartphone that has beastly camera capabilities to go with its above par performance level.NEW3

At times regarded as a ‘lite’ version of the F3 Plus, the F3 is good at everything its older, more expensive brother can do, in a smaller frame.

Cashing in on the selfie trend, the F3 offers dual front-facing cameras at 16MP and a 120 degree, wide angle selfie camera at 8MP, dedicated for group selfies, which has been the stand-out feature in the F3 Plus. The primary camera comes in at 13MP, with autofocus and an LED flash. Adding to the already impressive camera performance of this device, this phone comes with the Beautify 4.0 feature which further perfects taken pictures.

Not as powerful as the F3 Plus, the battery still stands tall at 3200mAh, making is last comparatively longer than most phones that are sold at almost double the price of this device. Not to mention that this phone has fast charging capabilities.

The OPPO F3 is driven by a 1.5 GHz octa-core processor and comes with 64GB of built in storage space, along with 4GB of memory. Not to worry though, this device offers up to 128GB of expandable memory for those who require the extra storage space.

The unboxing experience of this device is fairly straight-forward, as is the case with most OPPO devices. It comes with a USB B type charging brick and data cable, not to mention a standard pair of trademark OPPO earphones. Also in the box are standard instruction manuals and a silicone back cover.

The device itself is a smaller frame than its predecessor, with a 5.5 inch display, however, that does not take away from the fact that it feels premium to the touch and is considerably easier to grip. Overall, the F3 is very pleasant to look at and is ergonomically, exceedingly easy to function.

With volume rockers on the left, a speaker grill on the bottom, right next to the charging slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a SIM tray above the lock button on the right, this is the first time OPPO have released a device that has three SIM trays.

The OPPO F3 runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 right out of the box with new features such as Clone Apps that allows you to use two instances of the same application on one phone. This device offers a clean Android experience through OPPO’s own ColorOS 3.0. To sum it all up, because this device is made to cater to the budget market, it is no way a weak phone. For those looking for a device that boasts a good camera with a better than decent performance level, all on a budget, this is the phone for you. Coming in at Rs.34,899 only.
